E-ARK - European Archival Records and Knowledge Preservation

Deliverable D6.1 provides a technical documentation of the infrastructure supporting the E-ARK Faceted Query Interface and Application Programming Interface (API). It provides a description of the underlying software components utilized for the development of the search functionality of the E-ARK reference implementation and discusses the required interactions to work as an integrated solution. Furthermore, technical documentation of the developed software and system configuration is provided. The document describes also methods to customize the faceted query interface and provides examples for its utilization.

The document describes a set of software components that have been developed in order to realize the EARK Integrated Platform Reference Implementation Prototype for storing, searching, and accessing E-ARK Information Packages on a scalable infrastructure.

E-ARK has developed the Integrated Platform Reference Implementation (IPRIP) which is a software prototype for package creation, search, and access using data-centric technologies. The underlying concepts and technologies of the system have been detailed in past deliverables (D6.1 and D6.2). The main components of the IPRIP e-archiving environment include a scalable packaging infrastructure for creating OAIS Information Packages and a data-centric repository for searching and accessing data items on demand.

This deliverable focuses on recent developments that support the deployment of the IPRIP in different configurations at E-ARK stakeholder sites. A flexible packaging mechanism combined with a standalone backend implementation enables custom single-server deployments on demand. The scalable, Hadoop-based backend implementation has been ported to the latest CDH (Cloudera Distribution Hadoop) distribution in order to support a recent technology stack, advanced data mining concepts, and enterprise demands. Showcases that dealt with the application of text mining approaches, the extraction and visualization of geographical information, the implementation of a database archiving workflow, and mass document ingest have been implemented and deployed at stakeholder sites in Hungary and Slovenia.

This deliverable details the maturity model for information governance which will be used to assess the E-ARK Project use cases. The method that guides the application of this maturity model will then be detailed in deliverable 7.5, scheduled to be submitted in January 2017.

This deliverable contains the details of the archiving maturity model developed by the E-ARK Project. In this deliverable we report an initial assessment and evaluation of each of the pilot organisations within the project. A final assessment and evaluation of the pilots themselves will be published at the end of the project.

This is version 2 of the deliverable, updated with the post-assessment questionnaire and analysis and suggestions from external reviewers.

These aim to provide a comprehensive, but simple and easily understood, set of services that allow users to understand, contribute to and validate Information Governance good practices.

This document details the second iteration of A2MIGO - the E-ARK Maturity Model for Information Governance which is being used to assess the E-ARK Project use cases.

The E-ARK Project focuses on harmonizing currently fragmented solutions that support Archives services, especially in regard to Ingest, Archival Preservation and Dissemination of information. E-ARK solutions were tested in a series of open pilots in various national contexts, using bothexisting and near-to-market tools, as well as services developed by partners.

This deliverable provides the final assessment and evaluation of the pilots.

In addition, this deliverable details the technical evaluation of the tools developed within the project.

This is version 2 of our Communications strategy for E-ARK project - final update covering Year 3.

It included details of our plans for the ongoing sustainability of the project's outputs beyond the end of the project

Throughout the life of our project, the E-ARK team has engaged in a wide range of activities to inform the many different groups with a potential interest in our work about what we have been doing. 

We been represented at many conferences and events as well as well as organising our own. We have maintained a substantial presence on Social Media.

BUT these are all inputs. Now the project is coming to an end, to what extent has all work achieved our goals of motivating individuals, and through them the organisations they work for, to be more aware of the issues E-ARK aaddresses and the tools and services we have provided.

This report analyses both our inputs and the results of our recent survey on long-term impacts.
